Support the Forster Neighbourhood Centre

Support Forster Neighbourhood Centre one cup of coffee at a time!

For over 40 years FNC has worked closely with the whole community to improve the social, economic and physical well-being of Forster/Tuncurry residents. FNC provides services and programs responding directly to local issues which help improve local quality of life. We also act as a central hub for other outreach services not located in Forster and otherwise not directly available to our residents.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Please sign this petition to help raise awareness around the lack of sustainable funding for services like ours that help meet the needs of those who fall through the cracks in our community:

Since COVID, plus the cost-of-living crisis all Australians face, FNC is dealing with an increase in the number of clients and the complexity of their needs. There has been no subsequent increase in government funding to allow FNC to respond adequately to this crisis:

  • The well-being of our front desk volunteers is at risk.
  • Our volunteers are not trained to manage either the volume or the complexity of enquiries.
  • Our highly skilled paid staff are constantly challenged by the sheer volume of need.

To live within our current funding, in November 2024 FNC was forced to close on Mondays:

  • This is a 25% reduction in services to a community already in crisis!
  • FNC is not alone – this is happening all over NSW.

What Does FNC Need?

We need an investment of $100,000 yearly to restore our services to 5 days a week, providing:

  • A Crisis Counsellor to respond to vulnerable clients who have immediate issues.
  • FNC with the ability to increase our capacity to refer people to appropriate other services.
